Advanced organisms must develop organs and internal systems of immense complexity from the beginnings of a single cell. Development will be covered from gametogenesis through fertilization, cleavage, gastrulation, organogenesis, germination, hatching (or birth), growth, and maturation. The special functions of mammalian fetal organ systems will also be described. The lab will include microscopy and computer simulations.
