Provides a solid background in the fundamental principles of chemistry for science majors. Assumes a working knowledge of high school algebra and chemistry. Subject areas are atomic and molecular structure, stoichiometry, the periodic table, introductory thermodynamics, an introduction to organic chemistry, solutions, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction reactions, reaction rates, and equilibria. A lab fee is required.
