An introduction to the history of the Spanish language through the study of selected elements of its lexical, morphologic, and phonetic evolution. Chronologically, it covers the development of Spanish from the Middle Ages to the present. Geographically, it focuses on the dialectal varieties of Spanish encountered in Spain and Latin America.
