This course explores fundamental questions of social organization. The focus is on gender relations as one of the key foundations of social structure, and the inquiry revolves around considerations of origins and definitions of patriarchy, transformation of gender relations and societal organization, and how each individual fits into the partnership transformation. This course serves as the capstone seminar for women's studies majors and minors. Accordingly, independent research is a major component of this cumulative requirement.
