Students will study and practice writing in a variety of media formats, focusing on newspaper, magazine, public relations, and website content. The class will also spend time examining the media's role in society. Through readings, visiting speakers, class discussion, and practice, students will gain an understanding of the distinctions among media formats and other types of writing while recognizing shared elements. They will write and edit feature and news articles, new releases, letters, descriptive copy, and website content. Students will also have the flexibility to explore their interests in media writing.
