Students write and revise, aided by workshop response, two or more short stories. The course helps students to recognize the elements of craft involved in writing fiction, to apply them in their own work, and to identify them in the work of others. Students are helped to develop useful response to their peers' work. Students complete a portfolio of short stories, which includes early and more finished drafts and annotations of the work of published fiction writers. May be repeated for credit as WRI 315.
