We find ourselves in an unusual enrollment predicament. In all our years, we have never had a full class before the May 1st deadline. Normally, deposits trickle in during the first week of May so that enrollment slowly builds up in a well mannered and orderly fashion. We appreciate that all of you entering this fall read the rules carefully but a greater number of you obeyed them and had your deposit in by May 1st, exactly by 5 pm. Subsequently, we are slightly over enrolled for the fall semester and we are looking for a few volunteers to consider one of the following opportunities:
Option: Outward Bound Semester
September 5th to November 13th, 2009
Earn 12 semester hours (credits) while participating in a semester long Outward Bound course with other incoming Warren Wilson College students. The course will take you from the forests of our own Appalachian Mountains to the Florida Everglades. The cost for this program is $9,900 and some partial scholarships may be available. However, your Warren Wilson financial aid package cannot be applied to this program and will be deferred to the spring semester, which begins in January of 2010.
Option: Deferred January Enrollment
Receive a one-time $2,000 scholarship applied to the spring semester by simply deferring your admission until January, 2010. Limited number available.
To be clear, you have a spot in the class entering August 17, 2009. Contacting your admission counselor does not commit you or us to one of these two options, but it will allow us to help decide if either of them are right for you. If these opportunities interest you, please contact your admission counselor at 800-934-3536, by May 20th.
In true Warren Wilson fashion, we seek creative solutions to a difficult (yet strangely wonderful) predicament.
Sincerely,
The Folks in Admission
