On Wednesday afternoon the distance from Central Java to Swannanoa didn't seem to be more than 10,000 miles away. Music Cultures of the World surveys music as an activity in people's lives, as a symbol of historical or national identity and as a form of artistic expression. The WCU Gamelan provided a wonderful opportunity to experience a live performance/demonstration and observe music's greater meaning and significance in the lives of people around the world.
