When a Tree Falls
Ever wonder what happens if a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it? But what happens when a tree falls on campus and hits the College Press? Well, Tom LaMuraglia and the Landscape Crew get to work. The challenge: remove the tree from the building without further damaging the roof or breaking any windows as it comes down. So while some students were safe inside the building next door studying Environmental Ethics, another group worked the chain saws, hooked up a rope to a tractor and had at it. What a way to start a Monday morning in 30-degree sunshine. By the way, if a tree falls in the woods at Warren Wilson College, it's not the Landscape crew (they tend only to the trees on the core campus) but the Natural Resource Crew that gets to work that problem out.
