Soccer Teams Open Up Versus Chowan University
The men's and women's soccer teams kick off the 2008 season with home contests versus Chowan University.  The women open things up at 3:00 pm while the men start at 5:00 pm.

2008-09 Athletic Schedule Cards Released
The Warren Wilson College athletic department has released their annual athletic schedule cards.  The owls kick off the 2008-09 season with a men's soccer match at Emmanuel College on August 26.

Athletic Department Finishes 10th in Director's Cup
The Warren Wilson College athletic department finished in 10th place (195 points) in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Director Cup Standings.  The Director's Cup is an award presented to the top performing institutions at USCAA Championship events.  Southern Virginia University captured the title with 451 total points.  FULL STORY

Aleksandar Spasovski gets bid for National Team
Aleksandar Spasovski, a freshman men's basketball player at Warren Wilson, was recently invited to tryout for the Macedonian Under 20 National Team that will compete at the European National Championships in Romania this summer.

Practice for the National team will start as soon as he gets home in June.  His teammates will be guys he grew up playing with in club teams across the country.  “Twenty four players that have been picked will train together,” he explained, “Twelve will be cut and twelve will officially play in the European Championship in August.”  FULL STORY

 

Mountain Bike Team Finishes 2nd at Nationals

The Warren Wilson College mountain-bike team claimed its fifth consecutive second-place team finish in Division II of the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships.  FULL STORY

Chelsea Gay Earns All-American Honors
Chelsea Gay, a sophomore from Charlottesville, VA, earned All-American honors for the 2007 cross country season for her third place finish at the USCAA National Championship.  She ran a 6K time of 26:35.43 leading the Warren Wilson women's team to a third place finish.  FULL RESULTS
