Is Orientation required?
Orientation is required for all first year and transfer students.
Is there a shuttle service from the Asheville airport and bus station?
A Warren Wilson van will be available for picking up students Sunday afternoon/evening and Monday morning. Students should email jlauer@warren-wilson.edu or call (828) 771-3025 before August 2 with their flight or bus number and time of arrival in order to schedule shuttle service to campus. Other options are a cab from the bus station (approximately $15-$20) or a limo from the airport (approximately $40-$50). There is no reasonably priced, convenient public transportation from the Charlotte and Greenville airports and/or train stations.
How much money will my student spend?
There isn't a simple answer to this question. Some students seem to have unlimited allowances, while others manage on almost nothing. The following is a sampling of on- and off-campus costs to use as a guide for estimating expenses.
What if my student takes medication regularly or needs to see a therapist?
If your student takes medicine for a chronic or recurring condition (e.g. depression, diabetes, seizures, etc.), please have them bring current prescriptions. If a local doctor or therapist is needed, your son or daughter can call the College's Health or Counseling Center for a referral. First year students who need to see an off campus professional on a regular basis (weekly or more frequently) may request an exception to the vehicle policy by contacting the Dean of Students' Office.
Does the College make accommodations for special needs?
The College believes in an equal education for all students and will work with students requesting support services under the Americans with Disabilities Act and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to provide the necessary accommodations. Students requesting support must provide documentation of the existence of a disability that substantially limits a major life activity. For documentation requirements contact the Assistant Dean of Student Life at 771-2091, cclark@warren-wilson.edu or visit www.warren-wilson.edu/info/accommodations.php.
Do I have any options other than paying tuition and fees in one lump sum?
There are options for tuition and room and board payment. Loan options and a ten month, interest free billing plan are available with the College through Tuition Management Systems. Visit https://www.afford.com/warren-wilson, or call (800) 356-8329 for more information.
