PAC Q&A is one way for the community to have access to the president and the President’s Advisory Council (PAC). PAC members, the College’s deans and vice presidents, meet weekly with the president to guide institutional decision-making.
If you have a question of public interest for the president or a PAC member, click the link below. You’ll get an email response within three business days. In addition, your question and answer will be posted on this page for others to see. Keep in mind that there are privacy laws and other state and federal regulations that may render an answer inconclusive. As always, private or personal correspondence should be sent directly to the relevant individual administrator.
The use of this resource, as with all electronic campus resources, follows the WWC computer and network user policy, available here. In particular, the use of electronic mail and other network communications facilities to harass, offend or annoy other users of the network is forbidden.

Question: At the end of last year, over the summer and in the last couple of weeks, I’ve had several employees ask me, “Why didn’t the PAC reviews occur at the end of the year (2011-12) as they have in the past?” I figure that if a dozen or so employees have asked me that there [...]

Question: I think that most student workers this summer like the new changes in Gladfelter, but we have some questions. Where have the microwave, sandwich press, revolving toaster and waffle makers gone? We used this equipment frequently, and I think I speak for most people when I say I’d like to make a grilled cheese sandwich [...]

Question: While during the school year we students have many modes of discourse available to us, the summer presents no formal outlet for our feelings and concerns. For this reason, we, the student workers, have written this letter to express our distress at the loss of Karen Huntley. Karen was arguably the most beloved member of [...]

Question: As a student from Washington State, I have used the shuttle numerous times to travel to the Asheville Airport for breaks. I was recently informed that the school has decided to use a outside company that charges for this service. Though it was an extra, non required service, it was very disappointing to see [...]

Question: Thanks for setting up for this system and for the opportunity to ask questions. I often feel like I'm so focused on the day-to-day of my own job that it's easy to lose track of what else is going on the at the College. Richard's regular reports from the Admission and Advancement Office are great and make me feel very informed about what's going on at Orr Cottage. Would it be possible for other PAC members to send out regular reports via email about what their divisions are doing? I think it would help staff and faculty feel less isolated in their own work and more connected to the College as a whole. (Submitted by Sharon Withrow)

Question: Given the upcoming statewide vote on a constitutional ban on gay marriage, I'm wondering if the college currently offers employee benefits for homosexual or heterosexual domestic partners. (Submitted by JB)
