Snow

Being in the Appalachian Mountains, we get snow several times in winter. Most of the time the snow is light and blankets the campus in a few beautiful inches.

Service Day - Swannanoa River Clean-Up

September 2004 saw heavy flooding caused by the rain of two hurricanes falling on Western North Carolina. The Swannanoa River, which runs through campus, flooded and left trash and displaced rocks in a wide path along its banks. Workday 2004's mission was to clean up the Swannanoa where it runs through campus.

2004 100-Year Flood

Asheville was devastated by a "100-year flood" in 1916. At that time, Warren Wilson suffered a loss of crops, livestock, and the hydroelectric station that had been built nearby campus. On September 8, 2004 the campus was visited with its second flood. The flood destroyed businesses and homes throughout the area.
