Theatre needs stage managers
Warren Wilson Theatre is looking for students who are interested in stage managing or assistant stage managing The Threepenny Opera, beginning almost immediately, and Description Beggared, which will begin rehearsal in term two. Ideally, stage managers should be students who have worked on Warren Wilson Theatre productions before (or taken classes); assistant stage managers can be new students. The stage manager is arguably the most vital member of a theatre production (including the director!). Stage managing is a very demanding job with great responsibility and requiring total commitment, and it takes a certain kind of person. It is also the quickest way to learn what is involved in theatre production, from acting to directing to designing to all other aspects of production. More than anything, to stage manage is to gain invaluable leadership experience. Two to four academic credits may be available, depending on the amount of time required. Instruction will be provided. Graham Paul will be interviewing for these positions starting immediately. Call ext. 3041 to apply.
