Energy Star Appliances

Why We Do It:

By using Energy Star appliances, the College is taking an approach to energy conservation that is environmentally and economically sound, but still allows us to meet our needs regarding food refrigeration, clothes washing, etc.

How We Do It:

New appliances bought for campus use are purchased with the Energy Star label to ensure that they make the most efficient use of energy possible

How You Can Do It:

When shopping for appliances look for the Energy Star label. The label should show you two price tags. Often times energy star appliances are more expensive initially – this price is the first one represented. The second price is the cost of operating the product over its lifetime. Energy star appliances cost much less to operate because their energy and water needs are so much lower. In addition, many local governments and/or businesses offer rebates for the purchase of energy star appliances. To find out if there are any current rebates near you look on the Energy Star webpage.
