Summer Internship Program

The Ashevillage Institute (AVI) is an emerging urban education center and living laboratory for sustainable solutions in action.  AVI is based in a cluster of neighborhood house, and is located a seven-minute walk from downtown Asheville.  AVI will be entering it's first real season in 2008.  

The Ashevillage Institute (AVI) Permaculture Intern will: 

Work on site with AVI residents, workshop participants, visiting specialists, and volunteers to help design and implement the permaculture infrastructure, as well as play an active role in supporting programs, visitors, and the living community.  The selected AVI Permaculture Intern needs to have an avid Interest in and some experience relating to urban permaculture and ecological regeneration, gardening, sustainability activism and education, community empowerment, natural building, and the center's development, as well as a strong work, team, and communication ethic.  The intern will work with a collective of AVI resident interns.

The intern will need their own transportation, but will not need to travel outside of the Asheville Area.  A truck would be great, biodiesel best...for hauling stuff.
