Wheat Board
What is it ?
Wheat board is made from a straw waste product, available after each year’s wheat harvest. Bales of wheat straw are milled into fine particles, sorted, dried, and then bound together with a formaldehyde-free resin. The particles are then hot pressed into sheets of varying thickness. Wheat board meets or exceeds North American Particleboard standards.
Wheat board can be used in a number of applications. The best uses are for cabinets, countertops, shelving, closets and under-layments.

Why is it important?
The use of wheat board over particle board or wood works to maintain higher standards of indoor air quality and the use of renewable resources. In addition to its benefits in the construction industry, it also provides a secondary income to farmers, as 60 million tons of straw residue is available each year.
