The following credentials are required for an application for admission to be complete:
• Application (with required personal statements)
• Official high school transcript (showing college prep curriculum noted in the WWC catalog) or GED if taken
• ACT or SAT scores
• School/counselor report
• Attained age of 17 by August enrollment date

Transfer Students must also submit:
• Official transcripts of any and all college work attempted or completed

Home School Students must submit:
• A transcript listing course titles and content
• SAT or ACT results
• An interview (by phone or in person)
• A partial portfolio of sample work completed, including graded papers
• A letter of recommendation, which is not from a parent
• A document that serves as the "diploma."
• A copy of the state rules under which the "school" was formed or is recognized (if not NC)

Once the file is complete, the Counselor will process the application by filling out the cover sheet and noting the cumulative GPA, academic GPA (converted to a 4.00 scale and parallels WWC required college prep curriculum), test scores, class rank, and percentages. Counselors will then enter or confirm that all the information is in the computer. The Counselor will recommend a preliminary decision and forward it on to the Dean or Committee for final decision.

Early Decision:  Students must apply by November 15. Files of students who have a 3.00 cumulative and academic GPA, 22 on the ACT or 1030 on the SAT will be processed by the Counselor and go to the Dean for action. Students must deposit by December 20 or the ED offer will be withdrawn.

Regular Admission:  Students must apply by February 28th, replies start mid January. Files of students who have a cumulative 2.75 GPA, 20 on the ACT or 950 on the SAT (500 v or 450 m) will be processed by the counselor and then go to the Dean for action. First consideration is give to students who apply by February 28th and then on a rolling basis thereafter. NEW SAT standards will be introduced in August once the results from 2008 are evaluated.

Students will be submitted to the Admission Committee if they possess one of the following:
• 2.74 or below cumulative GPA or academic GPA
• Below a 500 verbal or 450 math on the SAT or a 19 or below on the composite ACT
• No rank within the percent of students who go on to 4 year colleges
• Concerns noted by the H.S. counselor on the school report
• Concerns of the Admission Counselor

The Admission Committee meets weekly and the Counselor will be notified after each meeting of the decision.

Provisional Admission: The Committee may admit students who do not meet criteria for regular admission provisionally (AP). The Committee 1) notifies students that they must earn a 2.0 GPA the first semester at Warren Wilson, 2) emphasizes the students’ need to be dedicated to their studies, 3) details the availability of support services and advising assistance, and 4) requires enrollment in the survival skills course. The Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Students, and the Registrar are given a list of the students who are admitted provisionally. (Counselors will place the appropriate disability in disability field in the data base.)

Scholarship Applications: Students wishing to be considered for merit, service, work, or transfer scholarships must apply by March 15th. The names of the recipients will be announced no later than April 2.
