The Luis De Lucia Book Award is made possible by his cousin, Claudio Volonte '87.

This annual scholarship was established by Claudio Volonte in memory of his cousin, Luis De Lucia. Mr. De Lucia was a member of the class of 1989 who majored in Math. It is Mr. Volonte's wish to award $500/year for five years, beginning in 2009 - 2010, to support Math major students who need financial help to purchase their math books and supplies. According to Mr. Volonte, "Luis De Lucia was a great guy, extremely smart and full of peace and strength and with a great sense of humor. After graduating from WWC, he was accepted at Auburn University where he received both a Master of Science and a PhD in Mathematics. After completion of his degrees he went back to Mexico where he tutored mathematics." Luis passed away on May 17, 2009 after battling multiple sclerosis.
