Alice P. Burnette was a 1938 graduate of the Asheville Normal and Teachers College, a "sister school" to the Asheville Farm School (later Warren Wilson College). She taught school in Madison County, NC and in Weaverville, NC for several years before retiring to Swannanoa, NC in the 1970’s. She established a scholarship at Warren Wilson College to provide financial aid for pre-veterinary students.
