Ada Rice Beatrice Rice Wells Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established in 1996 by Dr. Mary Wells Powell in memory of her aunt, Ada Rice, and in honor of her mother, Beatrice Rice Wells. Both Miss Rice and Mrs. Wells attended the Asheville Normal and Teachers College in the 1920’s. Miss Rice passed away a number of years ago, and Mrs. Wells passed away in June 2008 at the age of 106. The earnings from this endowment are awarded to a student with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to descendants or relatives of people who attended the Asheville Normal and Teachers College.
