Today, 6-28-99, began the final week of the Cherokee Archaeology Field School at Warren Wilson.  We have five newcomers this week, and they all had a great first day.
Square 20R200 has now been opened, so dirt was sifted from there and from 10R200.  Nicole found a beautiful ground stone disk from 10R200.  And Sam found a nice projectile point fragment from 20R200.  Denene and Gwen mapped square 10R160, the unit with the palisade trench and numerous postholes. Also, we started to excavate level 15 in the deep test unit.  All of that soil was waterscreened today.
