WWC Archaeological Field School 2001
The Berry Site
Day 6, 6/04/01

We began a new week with six new crew members: Rachel Horn, Jared Garland, Elizabeth Furr, Wayne Bray, Niki Keese and Randy Keese. Linda Hall, from the Western Office of the NC Office of State Archaeology in Asheville, and Beverly Reitzel, a veteran of the Warren Wilson site field school joined us today as well. With a larger crew we began several new excavation units and had a really productive day. We were briefly interrupted by a heavy thunderstorm in the morning but after closing the site and huddling under the tent for 30 minutes, we were able to start over.

We completed trowelling and photographing several units and began mapping one of them. We have five trenches underway with units in various stages in each trench.
