Warren Wilson Archaeological Field School
Day 30, 7/12/02
Today was the last day of the Warren Wilson College Archaeology Field School, and we're sure going to miss our new friends from Western Piedmont Community College and the Morganton area! We did a lot of catching up today before we finally backfilled more units and closed them for the season. We photographed and mapped four units, and also finished excavating feature 27. It turned out that this feature was a pile of charred corncobs surrounded by small rocks. Since we didn't finish it today, feature 27 will have to be mapped tomorrow during the field day. We had another news crew come out today, they interviewed Dave and several students for Channel 13 News. We also set up parking areas, and flagged the structures for the field day tomorrow. It looks like a lot of people are going to show up tomorrow, which would be really great, but we still have alot of work to do this evening in preparation!
