Recently I have been making work that deals
with multiple layers of experience that occur simultaneously.
In all of these pieces the construction of stories by people
to interpret consensual reality, as well as the intersection
and interaction of these stories, creates a reality that is fractured
and shifting. The pieces are not narrative in a linear sense,
but the multiple elements can act as stimuli for the viewers
to construct their own realities around the subject matter of
the pieces.
The pieces are all part of a body of work that deals with
temporary shelter-- that is, the ways in which we protect ourselves
from the unknown, from the uncontrollable, from the very idea
of temporality, from the unknowable, and from all those things
that creep about in the night outside the circle of our small
fires. |
