Mike moved to Asheville in 1999 with his wife, Meg, from Colorado, where he had been running a whitewater/fly fishing Guide service in the Rocky Mountains.  Mike is a Pacific Northwest native, growing up in western Washington State, and playing his youth soccer for the Lakewood Soccer Club. He was named to the SPSL All Conference teams in his Jr and Sr years playing for Lakes High in Tacoma, after which he attended the Evergreen State College, and played for the Geoducks in the mid 80’s.

Since then, he has been player/manager for several adult clubs, and has been a head coach in the Highland Football Club, Asheville’s classic youth soccer organization.  He holds a USSF National license, NSCAA state certificate, and continues to enhance his coaching education by attending symposiums and the NSCAA Coaches Convention regularly.

Mike, at 42, led his 0ver 30 team in the Asheville Wizards Football Club to back to back League and Cup titles in 2005 and 2006, including two undefeated seasons in a row.  He scored 124 goals for the club from 2001-06.  Injury and old age have forced him to hang up his boots after 34 years.

Besides the beautiful game, Mike enjoys sailing, backpacking, mountain biking, reggae and playing his guitar.  He has two beautiful daughters, Claire, 7, and Grace, 5, who keep him on his game.  He is a Manchester United fanatic.

Andrew Radecki
Assistant Coach

Andrew Radecki is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana where he played club soccer for Dynamo FC and high school soccer at North Central.  At North Central, he was part of the 1997 state championship team.  After high school, Andrew attended Warren Wilson College from 1999 to 2003.  Andrew was captain of the soccer team for three years at WWC and received All American honors in ’99 and ’00.  After working multiple internships, odd jobs and traveling, Andrew has returned to Asheville and WWC to assist in coaching the fighting Owls.

Caleb Whitaker
Assistant Coach

Caleb Whitaker is the keeper trainer at WWC.  His soccer resume included NC state titles with Durham Jordan, on penalty kicks no less, and with the Durham-Chapel hill Strikers back in the early nineties.  He was the MVP of the inaugural NC East-West All-Star game in 1992.  Through offered a full scholarship by DII mercenaries Mt. Olive, he chose to play as backup at Duke University.  His 1992 Duke squad, led by MLS star Jason Kreis, went to the final four, where they lost to a team powered by Claudio Reyna.  He still gets psyched thinking about that game even thought he watched it from the bench.  He currently resides in Asheville.
