Welcome to our WWC athlete of the week page! This page is designed to recognize and congratulate outstanding Warren Wilson athletes who are able to devote themselves to their sports as well as excel in all other aspects of the Triad. As we all know, school and work are hard enough to keep up with by themselves, much less with sports practices to attend every day and events almost every weekend. Give these people a pat on the back when you see them! Our athlete of this week is...

The Men's Basketball Team traveled to Jacksonville, Florida during the last week of October to participate in the Annual Eagle Classic hosted by Trinity Baptist College. During the three-day tournament, the team went 1-2 with both losses decided in the last minutes. The team played well and laid the foundation for a great season. Begining in August, the team met for Individual workouts and weight training, and the hard work paid off during the first week of the season.
Highlighting the trip was the performance of freshman Aleks Spasovski, a talented guard from Skopje, Macedonia who garnered All-Tournament status during the trip. During the three games, Aleks averaged 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, and with that performance Aleks is in the top 10 in scoring in the USCAA. Aleks is the cornerstone of the Warren-Wilson basketball program that will only continue to develop over the next four years. A testament to the character of the young man, when asked about his performance, Aleks said "I could not have have accomplished anything without my teammates; and furthermore, as a team, we are not complacent with a record of 1-2, we want to win every game, and our ultimate goal is to win a National Championship."
The coaching staff is proud of the entire team's work ethic, and of Aleks for his All Tournament status. The Owls open up the exciting 2007-2008 home season on Tuesday, November 6th at 7:00pm at the DeVries Gymnasium. Hope to see everyone there!
