Scholarships in Business and Economics

The Helen Powers Program in Business and Economics of Warren Wilson College is pleased to announce two scholarships available for the academic year 2008 - 2009.

Helen Powers Scholarships in Business and Economics:

We have two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to support students who will be juniors or seniors in the 08-09 academic year with a declared major in Business and Economics. These scholarships are available for students from any of our concentrations or in the general program.

Application Guidelines

Purpose and Eligibility: The Scholarships are designed to assist students in completing their education through support for the direct costs of tuition and room and board. Students must be juniors or seniors in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Preference for scholarships will be based on a student?s academic achievement, dedication to study and personal development in Business and Economics, with a declared major in Business and Economics, and successful performance across the triad.

Application Letter to Panel: To apply, please write a letter addressed to "The Business and Economics Scholarships Panel." This letter should address your eligibility and the following specific questions:

  1. How will the scholarship help you complete or enhance your education?
  2. What are your specific learning objectives for the upcoming year?
  3. What evidence / accomplishments from your time at Warren Wilson demonstrates your dedication to study and personal development at Warren Wilson?
  4. Additional information you wish to provide such as career goals, dreams, etc.

Additional Information required: In addition to the letter please submit, or have the following submitted, by the application deadline:

  1. Have one faculty member (outside the department) and one crew supervisor write you a recommendation that addresses "your dedication and ability to accomplish your educational goals."
  2. A copy of your transcripts (for at least two years, prior schools if you have only been at Warren Wilson College for one year).
  3. A copy of your resume.
  4. Evidence of ?good standing? in academics, work and service.
