An introduction to the chemistry of silicon, phosphorus, and the transition metals, emphasizing the practical and the biological implications of this knowledge. The nomenclature of the transition metals is studied, as are the three bonding theories. Laboratory exercises will involve the preparation and characterization of transition metal complexes. A lab fee is required. This course satisfies the Triad Education Natural Science course requirement.
