Thermodynamics: Physical Chemistry I
The first and second laws of thermodynamics are treated in detail, and the four thermodynamic functions derived from them are considered. These functions are used to study the collegiate properties of solutions, phase equilibria in multicomponent systems, and ionic equilibria in electrochemical systems. Chemistry majors are required to register for the integrated laboratory course CHM 333 Physio-Chemical Measurements I, which is offered concurrently. This course satisfies the Triad Education Natural Science course requirement.
Prerequisites: CHM 117 General Chemistry II, MAT 241 Calculus I, PHY 251 Physics I, all withe a grade of C or higher.
