Projects: Currently working on a research project with the WWC Psych Department (Bob Swope and Martha Knight Oakley) to explore changes in attitude and sense of responsibility in youth towards protection of cultural and ecological diversity.

Pat Tuttle
Department: Education & Mountain Area Child and Family Center (MACFC) Liason

Degree and Institution: M. A in Chrisitan Education from Union Seminary-Presbyterian School of Christian Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.
Projects: I have directed early childhood programs for 21 years receiving national accreditation for our program in Black Mountain. I joined the faculty at WWC in fall 2004 to teach early childhood curriculum and to be the WWC liason with Mountain Area Child and Family Center. I appreciate the relationship between the college and MACFC and support the learnings that can take place both for collegiates and little children. It is a wonderful laboratory experience and enables WWC students to better understand how young children learn and grow.
Publications: My writings have been for church related journals and curriculum for church schools.
Personal Information: My husband, Bob, works at Montreat in Youth and Young Adult Conferencing. Our son and daughter in law are both ordained Presbyterian pastors, and our daughter is working in Phoenix with severly abused and neglected toddlers and 2 year olds. We also have 2 dogs and enjoy big circle mountain dancing, reading, and visiting our children.
Nancy Hofmann, Administrative Assistant

Projects: Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Tutoring in local schools.
Experience & Publications: Thirty + years in both public and private schools. Previous to WWC, served as Southeastern Regional Coordinator for Save the Children, AmeriCorps Program. While employed by the State of North Carolina, I developed North Carolina Universities Federal Work-Study Orientation packet for use by federal work-study coordinators in training of new federal work-study employees, program guide for implementation and management of U.S. Department of Education America Reads Challenge, as well as a brochure to support the program.
Personal Information: I have a son and a daughter, two absolutely wonderful grandsons, and a cat named Jack. A former sous chef, I have a great appreciation for gourmet food and fine wines. Originally from Virginia, North Carolina has given me the change of seasons I missed while living in Florida. My hobbies are birdwatching, collecting birdhouses and reading!
