Mapping Change Datasets
Mapping Change began in 2003 with funding provided by the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina to map the changes in Buncombe County, North Carolina. A 2005 contract with the US Fish and Wildlife Service permitted the GIS dataset to expand with direction to create a development index. The function of the index is to examine the relationship between impervious coverage and stream habitat in the streams of western North Carolina. The data acquired from the 40 counties west of Charlotte provides opportunities for the Environmental Leadership Center. The following serves as a representative sample of the types of work for which we are able to provide. For more information contact Phillip Gibson of the Environmental Leadership Center of Warren Wilson College at 828-771-3781 or pgibson@warren-wilson.edu.
