Internship Program · Summer
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP:
Are you passionate about protecting our national forests, reducing air and water pollution, saving endangered species, or producing more fuel efficient technologies? You can make a difference in preserving our nation’s environment and earn college credit at the same time. The Washington Center’s Environmental /Energy Program prepares students for careers in the environmental and energy fields by placing them in internships within the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The Washington Center is a non-profit, nonpartisan educational organization in Washington, D.C. This internship will involve working with the Environmental Protection Agency on a project to be determined by the strengths and interests of the intern. Sample Placements in the EPA include: Energy Star, Office of Enforcement & Compliance Assurance, Office of Civil Rights, Office of Air & Radiation, Office of International Affairs, Office of Pesticides, Office of Small Business Utilization, Landfill Methane Outreach Project, Office of Solid Waste, Office of Water, Stratospheric Protection Implementation, Office of Intergovernmental Relations. The Intern will:
• work 4.5 days/ week for the EPA;
• take an environmental policy course offered by TWC's faculty;
• attend The Washington Forum, a half or full day of activities each week, which gives interns special programming within their interest areas and introduces them to public policy and the people and organizations who shape it. This includes breakfast with members of congress, seminars with members of the senate, embassy visits, and workshops with diverse environmental policy stakeholders.

Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Visit the Environmental Leadership Center for this information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• applicants must be enrolled as a second semester sophomore or junior
• applicants must be studying environmental policy/environmental studies
• applicants must maintain a GPA of at least 2.75
• applicants must do the internship as part of an independent study under the guidance of a selected WWC faculty adviser and they must receive WWC credit for the independent study
• applicants must complete all ELC and TWC application materials (visit the ELC for details)
COMPENSATION:
Housing, $500 stipend
