Come take a walking or solar-powered electric cart tour of Warren Wilson College’s sustainable campus practices. Visit the EcoDorm, the LEED-designed Orr Cottage, the gardens, the recycling center. Learn more about the farm and why it received the county’s “River-Friendly Farm Award.” Buncombe County Master Gardener’s have taken the tour, so have NC State’s Park Scholars, Asheville’s Eco REALTORS®, Leadership Asheville, Russia’s Friendship Force, and more.
We invite individuals and groups seeking inspiration to come and learn about sustainable practices at Warren Wilson for everything from energy conservation to farming. Warren Wilson has been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as being among the top
24 colleges in the nation (of more than 4,200 institutions) with students, faculty and staff working to create a sustainable community.
The Green Walkabout Primer is a training document for Walkabout tour leaders that tells the story of WWC’s sustainability efforts in Landscaping, the Garden, the Forest, Recycling and Waste Management, Facilities Management and Technical Services, the Farm, and the EcoDorm.
