Dear Alumni,

The WWC Environmental Studies (ENS) faculty sends their warm regards and hope you are doing well.  Our faculty consists of some new faces and some old.  Current ENS faculty and staff are: Paul Bartels, Mark Boudreau, Mark Brenner, Amy Boyd, John Brock, Dave Ellum, Judy Francis, Robert Hastings, Dean Kahl, Frank Kalinowski, Laura Lengnick, Mallory McDuff, Natasha Shipman, Lou Weber, and next year Tim Meehan.  We are writing to ask for your help in the form of a little time on a short survey.  We also want to let you know about plans for next year’s 30th Anniversary.

An Environmental Studies alumni survey was completed in 1991, 1996, and 2001. Now to mark our 30th anniversary of Environmental Studies at Warren Wilson we are completing our largest survey to date. Tracking the careers and graduate studies of our former students is extremely important for the following reasons. It helps us better advise current students, change our programs to better meet needs of students and the environment, advertise the truth about our program to prospective students and parents, contribute to nation-wide discussions about a major in Environmental Studies, and keep in contact with you.

As one of the oldest programs in the country, we have much we can learn and teach about the strengths and weaknesses of our department, but only with your thoughtful feedback.  This survey will take 10-30 minutes.  Your time will be greatly appreciated.

Finally, please take note that a series of events will occur next year to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ENS.  These events will kick off with Homecoming (Oct. 3-5, 2008) at which Dr. Alan Haney will return and give a keynote presentation on Friday afternoon.  Watch for the Homecoming announcements for more information.

Again, thank you for your kind assistance in this survey.

Sincerely,

Louise M. Weber, Ph.D.
