Professional Interests:

Judy Francis has been involved in land-use issues for over 20 years and is currently the Western Field Officer for the North Carolina Deparetment of Environment and Natural Resources Office of Conservation and Community Affairs. In that capacity, she works with 33 counties to acheive their conservation goals through planning and partnerships. She has written or co-written numerous land use plans and policies, and is a regular presenter at regional conferences and events.

She is an Executive Board member of the National Association of County Planners and was recently elected to the NC Chapter of the American Planning Association Board of Directors. She also serves on the boards of several conservation organizations in NC. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Warren Wilson College since 1996 teaching Community Land Use Planning for the Environmental Studies Department.

 

Personal:
Ms. Francis and her family live in the mountains of western NC where they flyfish on some of the world's greatest trout streams.
