FRS – 104 Humans and Nature (* LLC)
FRS – 128 Genetics, Medicine, and Your Future (* LLC)
The two First Year Seminars listed above (FRS-104 and FRS-128) are part of a new program at Warren Wilson called Living – Learning Community (LLC). LLCs are programs designed to blend the students’ academic and residential experience in order to maximize their success during the first year of college. The students who choose to enroll in these sections will share the third floor of Sunderland Residence Hall and participate in a program intentionally structured to enhance the opportunities for students, peer group leaders, and faculty to learn in a collaborative and interactive manner in the classroom and in the residence hall. Some classes, advising sessions, and social and cultural activities will be scheduled in the residence hall in order to enhance the first-year experience. Living and learning will come together through the exploration of sustainable living, community building, and academic inquiry. Nationwide, students who participate in LLCs earn higher GPAs and record better class attendance while surpassing their peers in retention from the first to second year of college.
