International Programs Week is March 1-5

From the International Programs Office:

This is your chance to learn about the short-term international and cross-cultural courses that have been proposed for the 2010 -2011 academic year. Courses in social work, English/theater, global studies, sociology, environmental studies, Appalachian studies, and religious studies that will include travel and field study in Costa Rica, the United Kingdom, Panama, Sweden and Denmark, Alaska, Ireland and India have been proposed. If you believe that you will be eligible to participate in an international program next year, please stop by Canon Lounge during the week of March 1-5 to check our list so that you can participate in the selection process. Please use this week to stop by Canon Lounge during lunch to meet with the course instructors to learn more. International Programs staff will also be available to discuss semester abroad and short-term course options.

After spring break, the International Programs Office will send a list of proposed courses to students who should be eligible to participate in the program next year. At that time, we will ask you to tell us your first, second and third preferences from the list. This will help us to determine which courses to offer next year, and it will help students to secure a spot in the courses. The list will also be posted on our information board in lower Gladfelter and in the International Programs Office.

We are pleased to announce many events happening on campus in conjunction with International Programs Week. Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in dance workshops sponsored by ANT 391 Dance, Culture and Identity and Lyceum; enjoy a special benefit concert by WWC alumni Toubab Krewe; eat special international meals in Gladfelter; and learn about proposed study abroad courses during special presentations. Check out the Inside Page or the Study Abroad website (www.warren-wilson.edu/~studyabroad) for a full listing of International Programs Week events.
