Connecting to the WWC-WiFi Network

Select your operating system below to get full and persistent connectivity to the Warren Wilson College wi-fi network without having to reconnect every hour. This traffic is prioritized and encrypted on the network, and you will have access to your home directory and internal resources such as Zimbra.

Wifi profile installer

Use the following installer to automatically set your computer up to use WWC-WiFi.

Windows 7/Vista Installer

You only need to do this if the installer fails for any reason.

Begin by right clicking on wifi icon in your system tray and choose Open Network and Sharing Center.

On the left hand pane click Manage wireless networks.

Above the list of wireless networks click the Add button.

Click Manually create a network profile.

Enter the following:

Network Name: WWC-WiFi

Security type: WPA2-Enterprise

Encryption type: AES

Check Start this connection automatically and click Next.

Click Change connection settings.

Click the security tab.

Make sure the authentication method is set to Microsoft PEAP, then click Settings next to authentication method.

Uncheck Validate server certificate.

Make sure that Server authentication method is set to MS-CHAP v2.

Click configure next to the Server authentication method.

Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon...

Click OK twice to return to the security tab.

Click Advanced settings.

Check Specify authentication mode and choose user authentication.

Click Save credentials.

Enter your Warren Wilson email username and password without the "@warren-wilson.edu".

Click OK twice, and then close on the last window.

Begin my double clicking on the wireless connection icon in the system tray.

Click on WWC-WiFi and then click Connect. This process will fail.

Click Advanced settings on the left in Related Tasks.

Click the Wireless Networks tab.

Click on WWC-WiFi in the list, and then click Properties.

Make sure that Network Authentication is set to WPA2 and Data encryption is set to AES.

Click the Authentication tab.

Change EAP type to PEAP.

Uncheck Authenticate as computer...

Check Authenticate as user....

Click Properties under PEAP.

Uncheck Validate server certificate.

Make Select authentication method is set to EAP-MSCHAP v2.

Click Configure next to to authentication method.

Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon...

Click Ok four times

You will see a bubble that says "Windows was unable to find a certificate..."

Click the bubble and you will be asked for credentials.

Enter your Warren Wilson email username and password without the @warren-wilson.edu.

You should now be connected to WWC-WiFi anywhere it is available.

Connecting to the Warren Wilson wireless network on an iPad or iPhone is a straightforward process. Begin by choosing the WWC-WiFi SSID from the Wifi section in the settings app.

Log in using your Warren Wilson email login. You do not need the @warren-wilson.edu.

Finally, accept the certificate to connect to WWC-WiFi. You will now be connected anywhere on campus where WWC-WiFi is available.

To connect to the Warren Wilson wireless network from a MacBook or an iMac you begin by clicking on the AirPort icon in the menu and selecting WWC-WiFi. If AirPort isn't running you will first need to select "Turn Wi-Fi On".

Login using your Warren Wilson email login. You do not need the @warren-wilson.edu. Leave Mode set to Automatic. Leave "Remember this network" checked if you wish to reconnect automatically each time you turn your computer on.

Click "Continue" to accept the certificate. Enter your computer's administrator password (if yours doesn't have one leave it blank) and click "Update Settings". You will now be connected anywhere on campus where WWC-WiFi is available.

To connect to the Warren Wilson wireless network from an Android phone or tablet begin by opening up Settings on your device and going to Wireless & Networks.

If Wi-Fi is not running enable it by clicking the box beside Wi-Fi.

Tap Wi-Fi Settings.

Tap to select the network WWC-WiFi.

If you have not already established a credential storage password, your Android will prompt you to enter one. Otherwise enter your password for storing credentials.

For EAP method select PEAP.

For Phase 2 authentication select MSCHAPv2.

For Identity use your Warren Wilson email login. You do not need to add "@warren-wilson.edu". For Wireless Password use your WWC password.

Tap "Connect". You should see it say "Connected" underneath WWC-WiFi.
