This Website
Initially conceived as a resource website primarily for the use of students enrolled in the courses I teach at Warren Wilson College, by the time of its creation in the summer of 2004, this website has grown beyond the original conception. Thus, aside from course material, material and information related to the overlapping spheres of my scholarly pursuits, professional development and personal interests can also be found on this website.

Future Plans
This website is a perpetual "work-in-progress." In particular, I intend to expand the galleries section - especially on the subject of Buddhist material culture and Buddhist ritual and liturgical traditions. Translations of texts will also be made available at a future time. Until then, enjoy and use what's here now!

About Me                                              諸法從緣起, 如來説是因
"…ye dharmā hetu prabhavā hetun tesān tathāgato hyavadat…. "

I was born on the beautiful island of Penang, a popular holiday destination off the northwestern shore of peninsular Malaysia. In the late 80's, I left Malaysia for the United States in pursuit of higher education. I wasn't the first in my family to leave Malaysia for school, my brother having gone to England as a student when we was only fifteen. What started off as a short four-year separation from my family, friends and birth-place turned out to be an absence that continues to this day, almost fifteen years later.  After graduating from Allegheny College, Meadville, PA, I enrolled in the graduate program in Religious Studies at The University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. In the summer of 2003, having completed my graduate studies, I joined the faculty at Warren Wilson College, Asheville, NC.
