Sunderland is located in the heart of the central campus on a hill overlooking the main classroom facilities, the library, and Gladfelter Student Center. Warren Wilson's largest residence hall, it is a three-story brick structure and is the closest of all the student residences to important WWC facilities. The first floor of Sunderland is divided by gender, the second and third floors are co-ed. Smoking is prohibited in the building. One hundred thirty-four students live in Sunderland. The MFA program offices, the Writing Center, the Swannanoa Gathering, are also located in the building. Sunderland's kitchen and laundry facilities are located in the basement, and there are community bathrooms on each hall. Rooms are typically 10' by 15' and feature bunkable beds, either one or two opening windows, and air-conditioning during warmer months.
