Congress.Org – House, Senate and Committee schedules, directory listings, and info on communicating with members of Congress.
Department of State – A great site for getting government positions and policies (under the "Policy" section, browse the "Hot Issues" and "Topics" sections). Includes links to speeches, statements, briefings, reports and more.
Federal Resources compiled by U. of Mich. – Another great list of links. Things you won't easily find anywhere else (like copies of the President's income tax return).

FedStats – Census data, crime statistics, economic information, maps, you name it.
FindLaw Constitutional Law Center – Find historical documents (e.g., Federalist Papers) and Supreme Court Resources.
FirstGov.gov – the official web portal to government information (apply for government grants, apply for government jobs, get a passport, contact elected officials, and more).
GovEngine.com – Comprehensive directory of official Federal, State, and Local Government and Court links.
Government Printing Office – Makes available a wealth of government information, including the United States Budget, Code of Federal Regulations, Bills, Public Laws, Federal Register, U.S. Government Manual, Supreme Court Decisions, Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents, and more.
GPO Monthly Catalog – Provides citations for all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, Office of the President, etc.) Also provides direct links to those that are available online.
Library of Congress – A goldmine of information! Includes neat stuff like the American Memory Collection (historical documents, photos, movies, and sound recordings) and online exhibitions. In the "Research Tools" section, check out the Country Studies (detailed info on over 70 countries) and the Global Legal Information Network (laws of over 35 countries). You can also access their library catalog.

U.S. Code – An easy-to-use site that allows various ways to search the U.S. Code.
U.S. Census Bureau – The latest census data, as well as the Statistical Abstract of the United States and the County & City Data Book.

North Carolina Data Center (LINC) – the most valuable Web resource for NC statistical data. Covers areas such as: population and housing, vital statistics and health, law enforcement, environment, employment and income, business and industry, agriculture, and transportation.
North Carolina ECHO (Exploring Cultural Heritage Online) – a doorway to the special collections of North Carolina's libraries, archives, and museums.
North Carolina General Assembly – Information on the House and Senate, including up-to-date reports on the status of bills currently before the legislature. Also provides calendars, committees and county representation.
