Reference Books are a great way to start any research. Warren Wilson College has an good collection of reference books covering music, literature and art. Here is a list of selected Reference Books.

NetLibrary and other E-Book Collections - around 50,000 full-text online e-books, covering all subjects.

Online Reference Sources:

Grove Dictionary of Art - the online version of the 34-volume encyclopedia.

Grove Music Online - the online version of the Grove music reference works (some of which are listed in the section of Reference Books above) - contains many of the Grove titles in one, quick and easy point of access.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online - we also have this in the paper edition on the reference shelves (Call # R 030 B862). 

American National Biography - a great biographical resource (only includes deceased figures). Includes linked cross-references, bibliographies, and links to selected web sites.

Biography Resource Center - will help you find brief and scholarly information about well known figures.

Magazines & Journal Articles:

We have over 10,000 periodical subscriptions online.

You might try looking in these "Big Full Text" databases first - they try to cover all subjects and contain lots of full-text articles:

JSTOR - select appropriate disciplines (Art, Langauage & Literature, Music, African-American Studies, History, etc.) Probably one of your best sources for doing research in this class.
