Interdisciplinary, full-text periodical databases--over 7,000 journal articles on most topics.

ProQuest Research Library

Specialized, subject databases--such as psychology and other social sciences.
Contemporary Women's Issues--full-text access to global information on women's social issues.
PsycARTICLES --full-text articles from forty APA (American Psychological Association) journals.
PsycInfo--best coverage of the psychology literature with indexes and abstracts of books and over 1,300 journals but does NOT include any full-text articles; get articles from WWC journals or Interlibrary Loan.
Social Sciences Index -- social science topics with some links to full-text articles.
Wilson Select --abstracts and full-text articles from other Wilson databases.

TO CHECK IF THE ARTICLE IS AVAILABLE AT WWC, USE Lists of Periodicals.
WWC Periodical Holdings--information (date coverage and format - fulltext, paper, microform) for journals in our library.
MCLN (Mountain College Library Network) Periodicals (Search Box)--available through interlibrary loan requests.

Selected WWC Books--circulating, reference, and electronic titles for your class.
Our Library Catalog--materials owned by WWC and by other MCLN libraries, including some electronic books.
netLibrary--collection of electronic books.
WorldCat--materials owned by libraries worldwide, often available through Interlibrary Loan.
Other Library Catalogs--check catalogs for materials available at UNC-A, local public libraries, and some other libraries.


TO GET MATERIALS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES:

  • Use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request forms available at the Reference Desk to obtain books and journal articles from MCLN and from other libraries. Allow more time to obtain materials from nonMCLN libraries.
  • Use Cooperative Borrower Cards available at the Reference Desk to borrow books yourself from UNC-A's library and from MCLN. Get Asheville Buncombe Library System (public) library cards at any branch library.

  • TO CITE SOURCES, USE:
    Online Style Guides:
    APA Style--provides examples for citing electronic source materials using APA style.
    The Nuts and Bolts Guide to College Writing--covers all aspects of college writing, including APA style.
