I believe that anyone can do Mathematics, not just the few who decide to major in it. From Hamilton College I received a BA in Physics. I then made my living as a musician -- performing and teaching Appalachian music and dance. After ten years on the road, I taught Mathematics at Asheville High School for a few years. Then I received an MS in Applied Mathematics at Western Carolina University. I also teach Appalachian music and serve as Assistant Director of the Swannanoa Gathering. I continue to be active as a musician, dance caller, and flatfoot dancer.
