All application materials must be received in our office by March 1st for the semester beginning in July, or September 1st for the semester beginning in January. We do not have rolling admissions. Applicants can expect to receive a response within 3-6 weeks of the deadline date.
In order for your application to be processed:
- The manuscript and application form must be submitted in triplicate. (Photocopies are acceptable.)
- The manuscript must be work in the genre in which you plan to concentrate: no more than 10 pages of poems or 25 pages of fiction, or both if you wish to be considered in both genres. Material in other genres, or in excess of the stated maximum, will be discarded.
- The manuscript must be typewritten, in a 12-point font. Fiction must be double-spaced.
- Pages must be numbered, and your name should appear on each poem, story, or chapter.
You must arrange for the MFA office to receive the following materials by the deadline date:
- Two letters of recommendation on the forms provided.
- Official college transcript(s) from any school(s) from which credits were awarded.
Please Note the following:
- If you are applying for financial aid, the FAFSA must be submitted by the application deadline.
- If you are reapplying within a year from your previous application, we will still have your original file, including transcripts and letters of recommendation. You need send only a new or revised manuscript, an updated personal essay, a new application form, and the $70 application fee.
- We will confirm receipt of your application, letters of recommendation and transcripts by email.
- We regret that the number of applications we receive prohibits us from providing individual evaluations to those who are denied admission.
