
Dominic Smith grew up in Australia and now lives in Austin, Texas. He attended the University of Iowa and the MFA program at the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas. He is the author of three novels, most recently of Bright and Distant Shores (2011), which was shortlisted for Australia’s Vance Palmer Fiction Prize and The Age Book of the Year. His awards include a Dobie Paisano Fellowship, the Sherwood Anderson Fiction Prize, the Steven Turner Prize from the Texas Institute of Letters, and a literature grant from the Australia Council for the Arts. His short fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and appeared in numerous journals and magazines, including The Atlantic.
