Andy Summers is the College's Minister to Students. As Minister to Students, he is available for personal counseling. Andy also teaches Psychology of Religion, First Year Seminars (such as Politics, Religion and Sex), Freedom and Dissent (Noam Chomsky, Saul Alinsky and community organising) and Streets and Prisons (which includes a ten day service trip to The Open Door Community in Atlanta). He is involved in international trips to Central America where students have been Witness for Peace delegates. Andy is the sponsor of the College Interfaith Group, which meets weekly for a vegetarian dinner cooked by students. The group has also become a meeting place for human rights work concerning places such as Burma and the School of Americas and for celebrations that express student spirituality.
Many students are committed to resisting oppression and environmental destruction. Creation Centered Spirituality and Liberation Theologies provide inspiration and hope. Warren Wilson students often become involved in projects which place them in solidarity with people struggling against unjust social forces, helping to give voice for the voiceless.
