This course uses music as a lens through which to examine several selected cultures from Asia (South, Central, East, and Southeast). Students explore music as a functional activity in people's lives, as a source of cultural identity, and as a form of artistic expression. Through enhanced listening skills and contextual analysis, students will develop a framework for understanding the meaning and significance of music in various societies, including their own.
