Dr.Steven Williams, a native of Asheville, received his Bachelor of Music degree from Mars Hill College as a student of Donna Robertson. He held the Creative and Performing Arts Fellowship at the University of Illinois where he received the Master of Music degree as a student of Jerald Hamilton, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree studying organ with Michael Farris and vocal coaching-accompanying with John Wustman. After a year of study in France with Marie-Claire Alain, Dr. Williams was awarded the French prix d�excellence in organ performance. He won first place in the Fort Wayne National Organ Playing Competition in 1981. Since 1982, he has served on the faculty at Warren Wilson College where he is Chair of the Music Department and Musical Director for the college�s Theatre Department. He is the Director of Music and Organist for the Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church. Dr. Williams is Assistant Director and Accompanist for the Asheville Symphony Chorus
